Unfortunately, with the cost of entertainment nowadays, going out every night, week or month sometimes isn’t an option for most. Families have to be more creative when planning fun activities for their leisure time. These activities have to be things that won’t break the family budget. Really, think about it, paying for the average family to see a movie has skyrocketed in the last five to ten years. Then you add on all the prerequisite movie food items and you could find that that one night at the movie just cost you a hundred dollars.
Okay, now let’s take that same average family out to dinner. No, we’re not talking about a McDonald’s-type dinner; but an actual restaurant, sit-down-type dinner; with napkins, real glasses and a waiter. If that average family of five, only order a drink each and an appetizer… boom! there goes another hundred dollars from their budget. It’s sad to acknowledge but the average family nowadays just can’t afford that kind of expenditure from their family finances.
So what are their options? Well, there really is quite a few actually. Parks, hiking, outdoor family sports and… how about a home party. Stay-at-home activities for families are becoming more popular for both the family and the budgets of the families. Why? Well, there’s not a lot of expense involved. Even if you invited the whole neighborhood to your home party you still wouldn’t equal the amount that the average family would spend at either the movies or a family dinner at a restaurant. But the pressure for not having a home party that’s a snore can be tremendous for some. How can this be avoided? Simple, make it a theme home party.
Our older relatives had their cribbage dates which in essence were a themed party get together. The good old boys had-and many still have–their once a week poker nights. But for a family, cribbage can be a game that is, shall we say, a bit challenging. So let’s look instead at bringing the excitement of the casino into your party without the cost. Realistically, some of the casino games can be a bit challenging to learn the rules to also; but, blackjack is so simple. The whole basis of the game is being the person to get the closest to twenty-one in the cards you hold. Easy right?
Worried about the gambling aspect of using blackjack as a theme for your next family party? Don’t! You can either take the betting out all together or… use candies or pretzels as your currency. It’s a pretty sure thing that kids wouldn’t object to that, some adults too. Not only will this be a great budget-friendly family leisure time activity but-and don’t tell the kids this-you’ll be reinforcing their math skills with the addition that’s required to play blackjack.
