Board Games Horror

When it comes to board games horror, there is no shortage of options. Whether it’s an asymmetrical game in which one player plays the villain, a slasher-inspired game that takes players back to camp, or a game where the players play characters from ’80s teen horror movies, there are plenty of ways for groups of friends to get creeped out together.

For those that prefer a less traditional style of play, Betrayal at House on Hill is a semi-cooperative game in which the players are all secretly pitted against each other by the events that take place. The latest edition of this classic has added a number of new haunts and refreshed some of the old ones.

There are also a number of slasher-inspired titles, including the popular Final Girl, which gives the gamers the chance to play the role of a movie slasher’s main character – the one person that makes it out alive. And then there’s Arkham Horror, a more narrative-heavy slasher board game where the players will uncover furtive goings on and discover skeletons in closets that may not be just skeletons.

The Thing is another asymmetrical board game that draws on the 1980’s sci-fi thriller. Here the players will work to stay alive at an Antarctic research station, while a hidden alien player is out to kill them. The game has a very paranoid feel and is one of the best examples of this genre of board gaming.
