Board games are great for entertaining friends and family, especially when it’s a rainy day. They also make excellent party favors for your guests to take home. One of the most popular types of board games is a jigsaw puzzle. A jigsaw puzzle is a game that involves assembling a picture by interlocking various shaped pieces. They are typically completed alone or in small groups and require players to use spatial reasoning skills and visual processing to match the shapes and colors of the different pieces. Jigsaw puzzles are used in a wide variety of educational settings and help to improve cognitive and motor skills.
Generally, a jigsaw puzzle consists of an image printed on a sheet of paper and cut into pieces that can be folded together to form the picture. The image can be either a landscape, portrait or a photograph. Many companies produce a variety of jigsaw puzzles, including Springbok, Cobble Hill, Ceaco, Buffalo Games and Ravensburger. There are also a variety of accessories that can be used with the puzzles, including frames, cases and mats. A competitive jigsaw puzzle competition has been developed, and there are annual World Jigsaw Puzzle Championships held in some countries.
The present invention relates to a new and improved board game using jigsaw puzzles. The invention preferably includes a composite game board in the form of a jigsaw puzzle and removable game pieces that are formed like in conventional jigsaw puzzles. The bottom side of each of these game pieces has an identification as does the area on the base of the game board where each game piece fits. The game board base may include additional indicia, such as the word “Scramble,” which will be discussed subsequently.
