How to Play Tight-Aggressive Poker

If you wish to become a Tight-Aggressive poker player, then you should be brave and play as aggressively as possible.

Firstly you need to be able to remember how many hands you have played pre flop so that you can begin to tighten up to play fewer hands and also to tighten up the flop too. You should aim to be playing about 15% or less of the hands that you use to pre flop and try to fold around 50% on the flop. To make sure that you are sticking to this tight rule, there are a few websites online where you can actually track your poker hands.

You should tighten up your game by lowering the number of starting hands that you play with. Choose about 25 and stick to just those. This will ensure that you keep to the tight 15% pre flop on hands. Blackjack hands are those that total 20 or 21 when added together. These are usually the best hands to choose if your playing is currently too loose. Fold if you have fewer than 10.

For a more aggressive approach, you should never call a bet. If you will be continuing to play your hand, then you should maintain an aggressive approach by either placing a good bet, or else raise the bet. Whilst you shouldn’t do this if you are in a bad position, it is a good way to look confident, and increase your bluff technique. If you are concerned that you do not have a good enough hand to raise a bet that has just been raised, you shouldn’t panic and call, but instead just fold.

If you are an aggressive player, it is not likely that you will need to bluff, but you can if you wish to. This will just add to the aggression of your play, but you should ensure that you are in a good position to bluff. There’s a common notion that when a tight aggressive player bluffs, which rarely happened, his opponents immediately think that he has the winning hand and in turn fold theirs, thus making them later on lose the competition.

Newbies usually use the loose passive way in playing which is the total opposite of tight aggressive wherein they will play and bet constantly against all odds. Their skill is usually basic which put them at the losing end, yet there are times when loose passive players mess with the tight aggressive ones using different strategies and later on win the game.
